Step-By-Step Process

1 SCREENING FORM  Parents will receive a basic information form to complete and return before the first meeting.

2 SCREENING MEETING ON ZOOM  My services begin with a free 30-minute screening meeting on Zoom. This meeting gives families an opportunity to discuss their primary areas of concern and determine whether my services are the right fit for their needs.

Areas of concern may include behavioural challenges, social or play skills, speech and language delays, or any other areas related to ASD.

During the screening meeting, families can also discuss the type of services they are looking for, such as centre or home-based intervention, music-based intervention, one-on-one school or daycare support, or other services related to ASD.

This is also the time to review what documentation may be needed to get started, such as a doctor’s prescription, medical diagnosis, and insurance documents.

This initial meeting is conducted on Zoom.

3 SERVICE AGREEMENT  Following the screening meeting, a Service Agreement and Consent Contract will be completed and signed before services begin. The Service Agreement outlines the services provided to support your child and your family. This document contains information about my background, my responsibilities, and my services, as well as information about the policies and roles within this professional relationship. Once you sign this contract, you are agreeing to engage my services as your child’s behaviour consultant.

4 ASSESSMENT  The next step is an observation and assessment of your child in everyday situations. This step is necessary to identify your child’s current skill level, the factors that may be supporting their behaviour, and the type of individualized behaviour plan that needs to be developed. The assessment includes the use of various assessment tools, including an interview, and is typically conducted in the home setting, but can also take place in another environment that best suits your family’s needs.

5 DEVELOPING A BEHAVIOUR PLAN  Following the assessment, I will create an individualized behaviour plan to address your child’s specific needs. I will also provide a written report with recommendations for services and walk you through the detailed plan. When required, the plan can also be submitted to the insurance company for approval.

6 INTERVENTION  During the intervention, I train the hired Behaviour Interventionist to apply the individualized behaviour plan. Throughout the intervention, data is recorded and analyzed in order to monitor meaningful progress and to evaluate, modify, and refine the plan for the most socially significant outcomes. This process can also include parent training for specific behaviour management strategies.
