Step-By-Step Process

1 INTAKE  My services begin with an intake consultation. This is a time where families are able to discuss primary areas of concern and determine if I can meet their needs. Areas of concern can include behavioural issues, social or play skills issues, speech and language delay, or any other areas of concern reletaed to ASD.

During the intake consultation families are also able to discuss what type of services they are looking for, such as center or home-based intervention, music based intervention, one-on-one school or daycare support, or any other services related to ASD.

This is also the time to review what documentation you will need to gather to get started, such as doctor’s prescription, medical diagnosis and insurance documents. This initial meeting can be via email, phone or online.

2 SERVICE AGREEMENT  Following the intake consultation, a Service Agreement and Consent Contract will be signed, to allow services and treatment to start immediately. The Service Agreement is a proposal for services to support your child and your family. This document contains information about my background, my responsibilities, and my services, as well as information about the policies and roles within this professional relationship. Once you sign this contract, you are agreeing to hiring me as your behaviour consultant for your child.

3 ASSESSMENT  The next step is an observation and assessment of your child, to target behaviors in everyday situations. This step is nessassary to identify your child's skill level, the factors that support their behaviour, and the type of individualized behaviour plan that needs to be developed. The assessment include the use of various assessment tools, and typically it is conducted in the home setting, but can be conducted in an area that best suits your family's needs.

4 DEVELOPING BEHAVIOUR PLAN   Following the assessment in which behaviors are targeted in everyday situations, I provide a written report with recommendations for services and an individualized plan to address your child's specific needs. I walk you through the detailed behaviour plan, and then submit it to the insurance company for approval.

5 INTERVENTION   During the intervention, I implement the individualized behaviour plan on a one-on-one setting in the child’s home, working directly with your child and using developmental strategies to practice and enhance outcomes. Throughout the intervention, data is recored and analyzed in order to show progress of meaningful change and to evaluate, modify, and refine treatment for the most socially significant outcomes. This process can also include parent training for specific behaviour management strategies.
